What perilous upbringing could spawn this insatiable quest for adventure? From what sultry jungle, from what bitter tundra, from what dusty high-noon corral could have sprung forth your plucky protagonist?
Well it’s simple really. I’m just your garden-variety byproduct of the back-to-the-land movement of the late ’70s, born in (literally) a solar-powered hermitage ranch in remote northern Idaho.
Something of a wee wordsmith, I emerged from my intellect closet upon leaving the tiny logging village of my youth. Thus began university studies focused primarily on journalism, Spanish, history and Latin American politics; and travels throughout Alaska, North Carolina, Mexico, Guatemala, Europe and my beloved Pacific Northwest.
Degrees clenched in inky fist, I have wandered and roamed in my gypsy caravan-esque Subaru; golden hoopty, Screamin’ Bea Arthur; sassy new Subaru parked most often in Portland, Oregon Sitka, Alaska Tacoma, Washington. But the time has come to freelance write in earnest when I can work it in around my day job. This site is meant to entertain, inform and chronicle my grueling ascent to self-employment superstardom. So come along, won’t you, as I ford the swollen Amazon of global adventure.

I’ve taken a break from bringing in the cattle at this solar-powered hermitage ranch, so that I can put the finishing touches on my costume. No it’s not a cow.
